Vacuum Cold Mounting Machine

The Vim®-1 vacuum cold-mounting system eliminates air entrapped within the sample. In the absence of air, the mounting compound fully fills the sample’s voids, eliminating any gaps between the sample and the mounting material. As a result, the edge integrity is enhanced, and fragile samples are securely supported during grinding and polishing.

A robust vacuum pump generates sufficient vacuum to rapidly evacuate entrapped air from any porous specimen. A unique rotating cup holder within the vacuum chamber enables multiple specimens to undergo vacuum impregnation simultaneously. A specially designed dispensing mechanism allows pre-mixed mounting compounds to be loaded into a reservoir and then dispensed in a single operation directly into the mold. This system is compatible with a wide range of epoxy and polyester casting mounting compounds (cold-mounting compounds). Because the specimens are encapsulated under vacuum, the ingress of air is completely eliminated.

The equipment is easy to operate: place the specimen mold inside the vacuum chamber, mix the mounting compound thoroughly, then position the mixing cup on the cup holder and the vacuum chamber on the base. Pour the mounting compound into the mold, allow it to flow and fill completely, maintain this condition for one minute, then release the vacuum to atmospheric pressure, repeat this cycle several times, open the chamber, and allow the compound to cure under normal conditions.

Product Introduction

I. Overview:

The Vim®-1 vacuum cold-mounting system eliminates air entrapped within the sample. In the absence of air, the mounting compound fully fills the sample’s voids, eliminating any gaps between the sample and the mounting material. As a result, the edge integrity is enhanced, and fragile samples are securely supported during grinding and polishing.

A robust vacuum pump generates sufficient vacuum to rapidly evacuate entrapped air from any porous specimen. A unique rotary cup holder within the vacuum chamber enables multiple specimens to undergo vacuum impregnation simultaneously.

The equipment is easy to operate: place the specimen mold inside the vacuum chamber, mix the mounting compound thoroughly, then position the mixing cup on the cup holder and secure the vacuum chamber to the base. Pour the mounting compound into the mold, allow it to flow and fill completely, maintain this condition for one minute, then release the vacuum to atmospheric pressure, repeat this cycle several times, open the chamber, and allow the compound to cure under normal conditions.
